Agreed.
I absolutely love the lighting and color here; it makes Brockhall really feel like a special and safe place, one of the several places in Fantasy-fiction that I compare, in terms of its "spirit," to the likes of Rivendell and, in keeping with this series, Noonvale. Calmness, peace, safety, friends, good food and drink, etc.
I also adore the way Bella is depicted here. I'd say she pretty much falls in with the array of mental images of the badger-people that I have when reading the books. Some are "friendlier" or "gentler" than others, but all are physically strong and make me think of "viking" sorts, for lack of a better way of putting it (though other cultures have touches of that sort of "vibe" as well, especially when it comes to north-ish Europe, including England/Great Britain). She looks motherly and graceful, I'd even say pretty, but she also bears the look of a fighter, with her arm-band and such, and if you stop to look at her arms and muscles you can tell that she *could* rip you to pieces if you threatened her or those she cares for.

That too, potentially. XD
That said, while the Redwall saga may not be perfect, I find some of the things about it to be pretty inspiring as an aspiring author myself. I mean, I don't claim to know all the details about it, but I have a hard time seeing someone writing a 22 book series if there wasn't any personal passion or love for it, especially when, from my understanding, the first book was planned as its own thing without plans for a series, let alone one that extensive.
Of course, you might know something about it that I don't, and/or any number of other people. I'd be happy to learn more about it if anyone had additional information.
