The second part of a commission for
Kent Badger
“I must have another helping,” G told Gargomon as he held his bowl out for more stew.
“Boy, you sure brought an appetite with ya,” chuckled Gargomon as he took the ladle and carried over more of the delicious meat mixed with potatoes, carrots, and noodles, all covered in a creamy gravy over to Gaomon’s bowl. He gave Gaomon three ladles full before returning the lid onto the pot and then sat down to resume eating from his own bowl.
“I’ve just never had food this good before,” he admitted and began downing his current bowlful like he hadn’t already have several helpings already. Even the Terriermon were awed by his gusto as he inhaled the stew. Not even enough time had passed for the stew to cool down before the last spoonful was stuffed into his maw followed by a swallow. Immediately after, he extended his arm out and requested another bowlful. Gargomon was at a loss for words as he had to stop eating to serve him again.
“I figured you for the athletic type, but you sure act more like an eating champ,” commented Gargomon not sounding annoyed by having to keep pausing his own meal to give him another helping, but his gut, on the other hand did. It growled fiercely, not nearly satisfied with what it was given so far. “Oh, my, tummy. Such language. You should know better when we have company over.”
“Is… he talking to his belly?” asked G.
“Yeah, but you should see when his belly talks back,” replied Impy.
“It… talks back?” questioned G as he looked at Gargomon’s belly, wondering if one of the folds on it might actually be a mouth.
“Heheh, no,” snorted Impy seeing the perplexed look on Gaomon’s face.
“Oh, come now,” said Gargomon in a funny voice as he played with his belly to make it look like it was talking. “What’s so silly about a talking tummy?”
Seeing this, all the Terriermon started cracking up laughing. Even Gaomon couldn’t help letting out some snickering of amusement. The only two that weren’t laughing were Bunzae, who replied, “Oh, isn’t that amusing,” and Bearmon who was more interested in the pot of stew that was getting close to empty. He drooled hungrily as he sniffed the air that was filled with the intoxicating aroma of deliciousness. It was like torture to him as Gaomon had instructed him to diet. He already had his one bowl finished and was hesitant to have any more. Even if a second bowl was allowed, Bearmon feared he’d weaken and crave another bowl and likely another after that till he’d end up stuffing himself as much as he normally would.
“Don’t you want any more?” asked one of the Terriermon as he saw Bearmon looking down at his empty bowl like it was the saddest sight in the world.
“Oh, no,” he replied attempting to force a smile. “I’m fine. I’m just trying to watch my weight. I packed on quite a lot of pudge just from all the eating I did yesterday.”
“Well, I think you look nice with the bit of chub on you,” another Terriermon commented.
“But if you are done it just means more for us,” a third said gobbling up the rest of their current helping and held their bowl out for another helping.
“Thanks for your concern,” he replied. “But I’ll be fine.”
“You did very well in there,” praised G after dinner had ended and he and Bearmon returned to the back of the burrow to chat. “I know it’ll probably be hard to maintain a diet, but if you can hold on for long enough then I guarantee that I’ll be able to help you.”
“Thank you,” Bearmon told Gaomon, looking at his taut paunch. Just looking at it, it appeared like G had eaten his share, Bearmon’s and possibly part of someone else’s. “I just want to be able to be free of this curse. To be able to be around others without putting them in danger. If a little hunger is the price then I’ll gladly pay it.”
“That’s the spirit, but it will take more than dieting to help you out. Now, time for cardio! Give me ten laps around the outside of the field. Go!”
“Y-Yes sir!” cried Bearmon as he scrambled to run, working his way through the tall grass to the area where the field met the surrounding forest. Using an oak to mark the goal line, he started there and began his first lap.
“Hey man,” called Impy as he and Bunzae came running over to him. “That loopy dog’s got you running laps now?”
“It’s part of my training,” panted Bearmon as he tried to keep up a decent jog speed. “I am doing ten laps.”
“Ten?!?” cried Impy. “Who is he to tell you what to do? Anyway, isn’t that a bit much?”
“You probably can’t even finish one lap,” commented Bunzae to Impy.
“My lack of physical fitness is not up for debate,” snapped Impy. “What I’m trying to say is, why are you listening to some guy who you have no idea who he is or what he wants?”
“Because he says he can help me,” answered Bearmon as the gap between him and Impy grew further apart as the BlackTerriermon began slowing down.
“And you trust him?” wheezed Impy. “The bum is probably scheming something. Just give me five minutes with the guy and I’ll get the truth out of him.”
“It won’t take him five seconds to kick your butt,” pointed out Bunzae.
“Nobody asked you,” snarled Impy. “And you’re supposed to be on my side, Bunzae.”
“I am,” he explained. “And that’s why I don’t want you getting hurt doing something that probably won’t work, just like what you are doing for Bearmon here.”
“Thanks guys,” Bearmon told them as he gave them the more earnest smile he could muster. “I know very well that all this might not work and it all might be a lie. I figured that all from the start.”
“Then why are you still going along with it?” questioned Impy.
“Because if there is just a little chance that it might actually help me I wanna do it,” he explained. “I’m scared to death that I might harm anyone close to me like you guys and so I don’t care about the risks to me so long as I can keep you all safe.”
“You’re an idiot, you know that?” sighed Impy as he and Bunzae stopped running after him. They could tell they couldn’t change his mind and it was pointless to try.
“I hope he’ll be okay,” whimpered Bunzae. “He’s a nice guy. If anything were to happen to him, it’d make me very sad.”
“Me too,” sighed Impy.
In the distance, G had been watching and while he could only guess at their exact words, he knew what they were talking about. “I’m sorry, but there is no other way,” he sighed.
Days passed as Bearmon continued his training under Gaomon’s close watch. With each of the massive meals that Gargomon prepared being limited to one serving each for him and some exercise scheduled for every few hours, Bearmon found the gut he gained was gone before long and new muscle was gained from not just running, but doing plenty of other exercises too. Seeing it as a game, the Terriermon helped him out too, using their big doughy bodies as medicine balls or weights. This proved quite effective as Bearmon quickly went from being able to barely able to lift up one to hefting around three at once. Even Gaomon was impressed by this and wondered if this unbelievable strength was merely from his hard work or if it had some connection to Teddy.
In stark contrast, Gaomon had gotta a lot bigger in a round sense. Since the stew, Gaomon had been first to the dinner table for every meal and ate with the same voracious appetite too. While it was true that he did have to put on more mass to help absorb Bearmon, he couldn’t deny how much he was enjoying being able to eat such delicious food. He gained a gut that was almost too big for his arms to reach around in a couple week’s time as a result and he couldn’t help feel a naughty delight in being away from his normally low-fat routine. The rest of him had fattened up quite a bit too, giving his flabby arms and a thick, beefy pair of legs equipped with jiggling thunder thighs. His rear became the butt of many jokes, as it had become quite large and made comically more with how small his tail looked compared to it.
“I’d call that porker of a pooch a moocher if it wasn’t for the fact that anyone who eats here ends up that big before long, but he sure did it in record time,” commented Impy. “It took me a couple months to get even half that fat.”
“It helps when your eyes aren’t bigger than your stomach,” pointed out Bunzae.
“My stomach is a lot bigger than it was back then,” he stated, sounding proud of that. “But I am worried about Bearmon. His gut is flat as a pancake and he’s all lumpy, but not in a good way. It’s… just weird seeing someone like that.”
“You mean, being in shape?” asked Bunzae.
“Hey! I’m in shape too,” argued Impy. “A round shape, but a shape nonetheless. I am just worried what that pig of a dog is planning to do. Nobody here had done anything to provoke Bearmon’s other side, not even me.”
“And you’ve been very tempted to do just that,” added Bunzae.
“I know, right!” nodded the BlackTerriermon. “So we have no idea if this training is actually working or not. If the guy is just here to score some free meals then all this is completely unnecessary, but if he really is here for Bearmon then I’m worried about what he might do to him.”
“You’ve got a good heart,” Bunzae told him patting Impy on the belly. “Too bad about the cholesterol.”
“Enough with the schtick already!” snapped Impy.
On the second floor of the burrow, G was able to hear Bunzae and Impy talking about him. He didn’t pay much heed to their words, knowing they couldn’t do a thing to interfere with his plans. What he was more focused on was Bearmon as he happily played with all the Terriermon and Gargomon. The later was dressed as a Gazimon while Bearmon played the role of Teddy battling Bunny in their climactic clash in Rombsburg, though they both took some creative liberties to try wrestling moves. The Terriermon were either watching and enjoying the show or joining in to belly bump one of them to give the other an advantage.
“Hahahah!” bellowed Gargomon as leapt up and attempted to body slam Bearmon. “Time for my Super Meteorgut Slam!”
Gargomon came down on Bearmon who showed unshakable courage as he stood his ground. He grabbed at Gargomon’s lard and dug his feet into the ground. His newly gained muscles bulged in an impressive display of masculine might. He gritted his teeth and his legs quivered as he struggled with the ton of a bun he had over his head.
“W-Whoa!” Gargomon flailed about. “I didn’t think you’d actually catch me! I’m fatter than… well… a lotta things.”
“G-Good thing I’ve been working out,” groaned Bearmon as he managed to lift one foot off the ground as he prepared to toss him. “Now it’s time to go for a trip.”
“N-N-No thank you,” cried Gargomon, but it was no use, With one fluid motion, Bearmon stepped forward and tossed the overgrown bunny into the tall grass. He crashed into it and landed with an earth-shattering thud that made all the Terriermon jump.
“Are you okay?” cried Bearmon as he hurried over to Gargomon. “I didn’t think you’d land so hard.”
“I’m okay,” he answered in a daze. “Cause I’m a big bun with a big bun butt and my big bun butt is attached to big bun me.”
“You threw him for a loop, but I think he’s okay,” commented the Terriermon as they gathered around to check on him too.
“But wow, you are strong enough to pick up Gargomon,” another stated totally amazed. “You are super strong!”
“I’m a little surprised at my strength too,” chuckled Bearmon as he flexed an arm. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this strong before.”
“See how far you can throw me!” begged one of the fat buns.
“No me!” cried another.
“He’s throwing me first!” argued the others as they all wanted to go first.
“They all really love him here,” thought G as he watched them have so much fun. “If I were to absorb him then he’d be gone and they’d all be sad.” Lowering his head, Gaomon began to reconsider, but then shook his head. “No. I have to do this. He might be fine now, but how long can it last? Someone might slip and release Teddy from him or Teddy could one day fully take over him. If that were to happen there is a possibility that nobody would be able to stop him. The feelings of this bunny burrow would be the least of my worries then. I should just do it now and be done with it.” G made his way to the steps and made his way down them to do the deed. He didn’t get to the first floor, but instead turned and went back up to look out the window once more. “Then again… I suppose I can keep an eye on him and let him hang around for maybe another week first.”
“Teddy! Hey! There you are!” came a familiar voice that made G’s heart sink. He searched from the window and running toward the burrow he saw the Goblimon that he had been traveling with. He was shouting loudly right to Bearmon, clearly trying to provoke Teddy out of him.
“Hey!” cried the Terriermon. “Stop that! Bearmon doesn’t like it when he’s called that.
“Quiet, ya brats,” he spat as he swung his club at them. “This monster is my ticket to loads of riches, but I gotta get him big and mean first.”
“Oh, come on, Gargomon,” cried Impy as he tried to wake him up. “Of all the times we need you to spring into action with one of your odd bunnysonas NOW WOULD BE THE BEST TIME!!!”
“Heheh,” Gargomon giggled. “Bunny soda? That sounds delicious, but is it made of bunnies or carrots?”
“Come on Teddy!” continued Goblimon. “Wakey, wakey! Crashy breaky!”
“St-stop it!” cried Bearmon as he held his paws over his ears. His body was already looking bigger and more beastly as the change was already starting, but he was fighting it with all his might. “I don’t wanna turn into Teddy. Not here. Not ever again!”
“Too bad,” he laughed. “I learned all about that monster you have and that all I gotta do is keep saying his name till he comes out. Then once you are big and useful I’ll have you lay waste to every big city and clean up from whatever I can find in the wreckage. “Yes, this will be the start of a beautiful partnership, my minion.”
“I am n-not your minion,” argued Bearmon, his body throbbing and getting bigger by the second. He could feel his consciousness slipping away as the primal side of him was taking control.
“Stop this!” cried the Terriermon as they waddled with all their might at him. “Keep your mouth shut, you big bully!”
“I sait to keep out of this!” he snapped and hit them away. “You balls of lard are annoying!”
“L-Leave them alone!” snapped Bearmon angrily.
“Don’t worry, Teddy,” he spoke casually. “They might get a little bruised, but they’ll still be yummy when you eat them. You’ll need the energy for the rampage we’re about to go on.”
“I won’t do that!” roared Bearmon, his voice barely recognizable. “I won’t! I WON’T!!!”
“Just a little more should do it,” figured Goblimon as he took a deep breath to yell it. “TED-”
“Shut your trap!” shouted G as he delivered a punch with all his might to Goblimon’s face and sent him flying across the field. “Greedy imp almost got us all eaten.”
“Hey, I already apologized for that whole Monzaemon fiasco,” Impy said.
“He meant the green impy guy,” Bunzae told him.
“G-G-Get away from me!” groaned Bearmon doing his best to resist the transformation, but even with Goblimon silenced he was too far into the transformation to stop now. “I-I can’t stop it.”
“I was too late,” admitted G as he hurried over to him. “Bearmon, are you okay?”
“F-F-Fine, but you have to all get away,” he begged him. “Take all the Terriermon and Gargomon too. “Hurry, b-before Teddy takes over. You have to delete me.”
“But all you need is a bear hug and you’ll return to normal,” Gaomon told him.
“What’s the point of delaying it anymore?” he cried. “It will just be a matter of time before Teddy comes out again and again. Eventually I’ll end up doing something terrible and I don’t want that. I’m sorry, G, but despite your best efforts, I cannot suppress Teddy anymore than I could before. Thanks for trying anyway. Do what you have to do.”
“If that is your choice,” G replied and approached Bearmon. “Very well. Just relax and it’ll be all over soon.” Grabbing onto Bearmon, he gave him a hug, helping to stop his transformation and start to revert it, but more than that, Bearmon started to get pulled into Gaomon’s big, doughy gut. “Just like I hoped,” thought Gaomon. “The balance has shifted to me. I just need to absorb him and it’ll all be over.”
Bearmon’s body was pulled into G’s body, making his belly swell and expand bigger and rounder the more he was pulled into him. Despite being fully aware what was happening to him, Bearmon didn’t fight it. This was what he wanted and as the front half of his body was already absorbed into the massive dog’s belly, his body grew limp as consciousness left him.
“Almost there,” panted Gaomon as was down to barely more than Bearmon’s legs. “Once I finish him off, the Digital World will be safe.” He watched closely as Bearmon sank deeper and deeper into him, but then he watched as a Terriermon grabbed one of Bearmon’s leg and started to pull. Then another one joined him, pulling the other leg. The others helped too pulling on them from behind to add their strength into the mix. “What are you all doing?”
“Give us Bearmon back,” they cried. “He’s our friend and we don’t want to lose him.”
“But he’s dangerous,” explained Gaomon. Once Bearmon was absorbed into his body, a mark like his head appeared on Gaomon’s belly. The absorption didn’t stop either the Terriermon holding onto Bearmon were also being pulling in as a result and so long as they didn’t let go, they were going to meet the same fate. “Not just to you, but the entire world. And this is what he wants too. So let go of him while you still can!”
“Bearmon is silly and nice,” they argued. “He’s nothing like the monster you claim he is.”
“We don’t want him to go,” added others as they joined the chains of Terriermon in trying to pull him out, but despite their best efforts they were also getting pulled into Gaomon, adding even further bulk to his body. His belly grew even bigger and more blubberous with each of the fatty buns he absorbed to the point he couldn’t even reach to the front of his belly to stop them. More marks also appeared on his belly, one for each of the Terriermon he absorbed, quickly covering over most of his belly.
“I cannot stop this,” he warned them. “And I won’t undo it either. If you won’t let go you’ll meet the same fate as Bearmon.
“We don’t care!” they answered him stubbornly as they got drawn into him two at a time, his belly growing too enormous for him to see over and too heavy for him to even move either. He couldn’t help but feel the guilt of absorbing the chubby buns, but he knew he couldn’t simply abandon his duty.
“Fine! Join him for all I care,” he snapped. “I did what I had to do the keep the Digital World safe.”
“Yeah,” mocked Impy. “Look how safe we are getting pulled into that blob you call a belly.”
“It was nice meeting you,” said Bunzae as the two of them held on at the end and were starting to vanish into Gaomon’s gut too. His belly had grown several times larger than the rest of his body and threatened to spill over and bury him beneath it. The two of them were added to the countless face marks on Gaomon’s gut as well.
“I don’t blame you for this,” admitted Gargomon, surprising G that he had gotten up and had been pulling in futility like the rest. “You did what you had to do to protect what’s important to you. I’m sorry we had to put you through this, forcing you to sacrifice so many, but we just felt the same way as you. We wanted to protect someone dear to us. We might have not known him long, but he we became fond of him. He was open to us about the danger he posed and we accepted all of it and together, we promised to keep him safe. The fault is not in Bearmon or you. It is in us for failing to do what we had promised. We failed him, but at least you were able to succeed.”
His words soon faded as the biggest bun of all was added to the incredibly hugeness that was Gaomon’s belly. Everything became silent save for the gentle wind blowing. After a while, Gaomon finally started to speak. “Yeah… I did do it,” he spoke to nobody. The burrow was completely empty and lifeless. “I saved the world. I did what I set out to do.” Tears ran down his face as he spoke and they wouldn’t stop flowing. “So… why do I feel so sad?” Lowering his head, Gaomon smiled a bit. “Sorry, but looks like I failed too.”
His gut started to tremble and quake and then in reverse order from how they were absorbed, Gargomon and his bunnies popped out of Gaomon’s belly. They gasped for breath like the time they spend in Gaomon’s belly was like being underwater. When they saw Bearmon emerge last, they all cheered excitedly from the bunny pile they formed after emerging from Gaomon, well most of them anyway. “Why do I always end up on the bottom?” grumbled Impy.
“Wha-What happened?” asked Bearmon as he opened his eyes. “Where am I?”
“You’re back at the burrow,” answered the Terriermon all trying to hug him tightly. “Back with all of us.”
“Guess I can’t be gotten rid of so easily,” he said with a little chuckle and a couple tears in his eyes.
“They are all so happy,” admitted Gaomon. “I just can’t bring myself to do it.” Taking a deep breath, Gaomon approached Bearmon, ready to confess. “Bearmon, I-”
“How dare you strike me!” snapped a fuming mad Goblimon. He walloped Gaomon in the side of his head sent him tumbling to the ground. Goblimon then let out a roar as his body began to break apart and reform as he Digivolved and became an Ogremon. Now weilding a much larger club and no less enraged, he continued to strike at Gaomon without mercy. “You just wanted Teddy all for yourself! Is that it? Well, he’s mine! All mine and so is all the treasure I can get my hands on!”
“H-Hey, stop it!” cried Bearmon, seeing the beating Gaomon was taking. “Leave him alone!”
“I’ll be right over in a sec, Teddy,” he cackled. “I just need to deal with this pest first then we can have lots of fun breaking stuff.”
“No, I’m not doing that anymore,” Bearmon refused as he got up. “I’m not going to destroy things. I refused to be a monster.”
“You are a monster,” taunted Ogremon. “A monster that makes me rich! Now come on! Teddy! Teddy! Teddy!” He kept repeating Teddy’s name over and over again but Bearmon stood his ground, but didn’t seem flustered by it in the least. Ogremon tried shouting the name louder, till he was gasping for breath, but it still did no good. “What’s going on? Why won’t you change?”
“You wanna see Teddy so badly?” asked Bearmon. “Fine, then here he is!” Bearmon approached Ogremon. With each step he took, he grew bigger, quickly becoming the hulk that Ogremon wanted, but not when he had his sights on him. “Happy now?!?” he roared to a trembling Ogremon.
“Uh, actually yeah,” he answered trying to show some swagger to hide his fear. “Now start wrecking stuff before I have to get violent with you.” He held up his club like the fear of getting hit by it would make him obey. Teddy just took the club and snapped it in two like it was a toothpick. “Um, actually, never mind. Let’s call the whole thing off.” Fearfully, Ogremon ran for his life, but Teddy grabbed him by his leg and started to slam him into the ground all over like he was a ragdoll in the hands of a child throwing a tantrum. Despite the tall grass to cushion his fall, it was clear that Ogremon was not getting a soft landing as he crashed into the ground. Once he was battered and bruised all over, Teddy flung him over his shoulder with little care and sent him flying far, far away.
With that nuisance gone, Teddy then turned to the Terriermon and Gargomon and waddled over to them. They watched in wonderment for what he was going to do next. Stopping in front of them, he dropped onto his butt and patted his gut as it let out a hungry grumble. “Food,” he told them. “Food now!”
“Oh, he’s hungry,” they realized and hurried into the burrow with Gargomon at the lead.
“I’ll start cooking something,” Gargomon instructed them as he put a pot on the stove. “You guys bring him some snacks from the cabinets.”
“How much do you think Bearmon or, uh, Teddy, uh whoever can eat?” wondered Impy as they quickly piled out the bags of snacks and the oversized bear began tearing them open and munching the contents down. He then threw the discarded bags away and grabbed another, munching it up greedily.
“He’s probably making up for all the food he didn’t get to eat while he was dieting,” commented Bunzae.
The Terriermon continued to hurry back and forth between the burrow and Teddy as they attempted to fill him up. In the midst of his snacking, Gargomon hurried out with what he had been cooking. “Hope you like pot roast,” he panted and placed it before the bear that now had a muzzle and claws covered with orange cheese powder and grease.
With a dopey grin on his face, Teddy picked up the pot roast before licking his chops. He then tore into it, quickly devouring it and tossing aside the pot where the numerous snack bags were. “More!” he belched and resumed gobbling up snacks.
“Sassafras, do you sure love to eat,” chuckled Gargomon as he patted Teddy’s gut, making it wobble. “I hope we’re able to feed you before we run out of food. Otherwise you might end up eating us.”
“Uh, you’re just making a joke… right?” asked Impy nervously. “We can fill him up before we run out of food, can’t we?”
“No idea, but the challenge does seem fun,” admitted Gargomon as he headed back in to make something else.
“And if we run out of food and he still hasn’t had enough, what then?!?” snapped Impy.
“Slather ourselves with gravy to taste better?” suggested Bunzae.
“Not helping!” growled Impy as Teddy’s gut growled too, the food he had eaten not nearly enough for him yet.
“More!” he bellowed once more.
“Alright, ya mooks,” ordered Impy. “Keep the snacks coming! It’s eat or be eaten… uh feed or be eaten or whatever. Just keep hauling snacks over with those buns of steel!”
“More! More! More!” Teddy kept demanding as he ate and ate and ate.
“Ugh,” groaned G as he finally awoke. “How long was I unconscious?” Getting up, everything started to come flooding back into him. He gasped recalling Ogremon, Teddy, and all the helpless bunnies and got to his feet. He wasn’t sure what he was going to find, but his heart sank when he saw an incredibly overly stuffed Bearmon on the ground. His previously flat gut was now larger than his own by quite a large margin and was far too heavy for him to move or even be able to sit up. “I hope he’s not filled with what I think he is.”
Cautiously, G moved towards Bearmon who let out a belch of great satisfaction. “That really hit the spot, whatever I ate,” he smiled and rubbed his gut. He then saw Gaomon approach. “Oh, hi there.”
“Uh, hi,” G answered nervously. “Uh, did you say you don’t know what you ate?”
“It was tasty,” he told him. “I can tell that much, but I was Teddy while I was eating so it’s a big blur to me.”
“W-Well, where are all those Terriermon?” asked Gaomon growing more worried.
“Where do ya think we are?” shouted Impy as Bearmon’s gut wobbled wildly. “We’re in this big oaf’s belly!”
“This was just what I was afraid was going to happen!” cried G as he almost touched Bearmon’s gut, but refrained, remembering that the code was still within him. He doubted he had the greater mass anymore too. “His other side came out and he ate you all!”
“Well, did we at least taste good?” asked Gargomon. “I feed mah buns yummy food so I’d hope we’d be some mighty yummy lapine. A shame I couldn’t have whipped ya up some rabbit stew.”
“I wish I could fully recall it, but I’m sure you were all delicious,” Bearmon told them.
“Can’t you all take this seriously?!?” cried G. “You are all trapped in his stomach! Shouldn’t this be cause for alarm?”
“Well, it is rather dark and cramped in here,” Bunzae replied. “But so long as I’m with my fellow buns, I’ll be okay.”
“It’s like a bunny party in here,” cheered the Terriermon as Bearmon’s belly bounced and jiggled wildly.
“Whoa, now,” warmed Bearmon as he attempted to stifle his laughter. “No horseplay in my belly now, you buns.”
“But it’s so much fun in here,” they laughed and only got more rambunctious. Gaomon could only watch in confusion, but then a few buns suddenly fumbled from behind Bearmon’s big gut and came into view.
“What that?” questioned G as he walked around and found that all the buns had actually been hiding behind Bearmon’s oversized gut, rather than in it. “What’s going on?”
“Oh, we screwed up,” grumbled the Terriermon. “We were playing a prank on you.”
“A prank?!?” he cried. “I thought you were all eaten… but… you weren’t.”
“Nope,” spoked Gargomon proudly. “It took every scrap of food we had, but we managed to stuff Bearmon’s other self and that managed to calm him down nicely.”
“That’s a relief to hear, but what happened to the Ogremon?” G demanded to know. You just said that Bearmon’s other self was unleashed, but we’re not in the midst of total beardamonium. What gives?”
“I’m not exactly sure why, but when I turned into Teddy, I… well, it’s hard to explain, but it wasn’t like usual where I am completely suppressed during his rampage. For a short while, I was still conscious and I remember beating the crud out of Ogremon because of all the trouble he was causing. I remember Teddy was feeling quite angry too, though it might have been because he was grumpy being woken up on an empty stomach while I was angry he was hurting my friends. The point is, for a short time we were both feeling the same and I think that might have been what allowed me to stay in control. However, after that, I blacked out and woke up with a gut to rival Spiral Mountain.”
“That’s all very fascinating, but I’d hardly say you can consider that learning to control your other self,” stated Gaomon. “It was merely dumb luck that it turned out that way. This could have turned out a lot worse with all your friends really in your belly.”
“I know that,” he admitted as he looked at the back of his paw, the straps undone so he could clearly see the DH mark on it and for the first time, he could manage a smile. “But because of this, it makes me hope that I might be able to one day truly learn to control this power. For so long, I thought it was just a curse and that it’d only get worse, but now… well, who knows. Of course, if you are still determined to end the threat of Teddy while I’m helpless, you are welcome to do so. We all know that none of us can stop you.”
“That is true,” he agreed, nodding his head. “It’d certainly be for the best… however, you did save me so I owe you. Plus, the danger has passed with no damage caused. I suppose I can let you go for the time being, but make no mistake. The next time we meet, I will remove you as a threat to the Digital World. You can count on that.”
“Well, I’ll look forward to seeing you again,” Bearmon told him.
“D-Don’t be happy about that!” cried G. “Cause I really will finish you off!” Gaomon ran off, before he lost any more heart for his mission. “I mean it!”
“Well, I’d best head to the market,” stated Gargomon as he tugged up his pants. “Got a ton of shopping to do to resupply the burrow. Impy, Bunzae, mind tagging along?”
“Why do I get the feeling we’re going to be dragging any entire store’s worth of food back with us?” groaned Impy.
“Wow, that was actually more depressing than what I was going to say,” replied Bunzae.
“The rest of you buns stay here and look after Bearmon,”instructed Gargomon. “Shouldn’t be too hard. With a belly like that, he ain’t going anywhere anytime soon.”
“We will,” they promised and waved as the three headed into the forest towards the closest store. Once they were out of sight, the Terriermon looked at Bearmon with a devious look in their eyes.
“Uh… what’s with that look?” worried Bearmon as they swarmed around him.
“Bear hug!” they cheered swarming onto Bearmon now that there was enough of him for them all to hug at once.
Kent Badger“I must have another helping,” G told Gargomon as he held his bowl out for more stew.
