“I notice that you use plain, simple language, short words and brief sentences. That is the way to write English―it is the modern way and the best way. Stick to it; don't let fluff and flowers and verbosity creep in. When you catch an adjective, kill it. No, I don't mean utterly, but kill most of them―then the rest will be valuable. They weaken when they are close together. They give strength when they are wide apart. An adjective habit, or a wordy, diffuse, flowery habit, once fastened upon a person, is as hard to get rid of as any other vice.” – Mark Twain

Have you seen it? I loved it when I saw it in 1964. The music was by the New Christy Minstrels, a group I still like. They issued a record of the music from the movie titled"Today" with an insane cover drawing by Jack Davis. There are a lot of good songs on it, and I learned most of them: This Ol' Riverboat, Company of Cowards, Way Down in Arkansas, and Today (While the Blossoms Still Cling to the Vine) ,which became a standard. My favorite is an instrumental lunacy Brackenby's Music Box, which is a collection of off-beat instruments: ocarina, jews harp, musical saw, hammered dulcimer, and other things I can't even identify. If you've never heard it, it's an amusing little piece-- give it a listen:
