....than they appear. I specifically made Kitchy's plane appear closer because, with the actual perspective, even at less than a mile, it would look like just a spec.
There isn't a pilot out there who hasn't slammed a plane into the runway at some point.

Wow. I never knew that. I had to look it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9svSePWwisQ
Oh wow, even with Vmin, those canard designs still cook at a good clip.. Not to mention float on that ground effect like a British Hovercraft.. I can see why the skunk is having difficulty here. Can't blame him for feeling a bit dejected about that touch down. Getting back up should not be too much of a problem at least.
I did slam my Piper Warrior on the runway a few times during those first 12.1 hours logged where I did touch-n-go landings with my flight instructor. On my first solo flight, I never did slam it though, or anytime afterwards. I think it was probably because ground effect was much more noticeable. That first landing was with all three wheels though, or at least almost.
No, it was certainly the larger cowl and higher nose attitude of the Piper, I realized this well after my private license. The Cessna 152 has a particularly small engine cowling to accommodate the little O-235 engine. So it feels like you're sitting tall with a nice view over the cowl. Since nearly all of my primary train was in the Cessna 152, I got accustomed to the visual cues that came with it. Adapting to new airplanes is fun, but the learning experience can be interesting.
Oh yeah. I fully get it. The Cessna 152 is such a tiny, under-powered airplane. The 180-HP Lycoming of the Piper Warrior would take up more room. The same went for the Piper Archer that I also flew.
I'm hoping to finally resume flying in the coming year. The Aspen Flying Club here in Denver has some Diamond DA-40 that I'd love to fly once I've done my refresher.

those trainers are tough built to take all the years of abuse from student pilots. I Love the design of this one. he is almost there two more and he's got it in the record books then it's nothing but the wild blue yonder.
I should have gotten mine out of high school there was a "young aviators" program at the local air center back in the late 70's that looked interesting but i had other things on my mind at the time.
(drop that one from the bucket list)

In a local setting like this, it would most likely be said as a pair. When I taught flying, the tower controllers knew all the college airplanes and addressed them like Newtek seventy-nine. If Chucky leaves the local area, he has to use the aircraft tail number. If he was flying for some sort of carrier, he would use his call sign of Newtek seven-niner.
I just realized it's been nearly a year since I last commented on anything here, wanted to post my first comment in a long while on another image but thought I'd come back here first just to see if anything new had been posted and..low and behold!
A lot has happened in my life in the past year that I'd like share, but I'll save it for a private note some time if that's alright with you Chucky. In the meantime though I thought about doing a backlog of commenting on earlier uploads of yours that I wanted to comment on over the past several months but never had the time or ambition to.
I wouldn't be expecting you to respond to any of my comments that I leave on any of your older submissions, but I would still like to take the time to analyze comment and critique some of your earlier story arcs from through the years, though it would be cool or nice if I knew you would at least read some of them if you wouldn't mind.
