Short story
Kasey had been walking for what seemed like forever, further and further into the dark and seemingly never ending forest. She had split up from her friend about an hour ago and hadn’t seen him since. She swore that she had passed the same field thrice now, but heading in the same direction didn’t lead anywhere. The two of them had sat in the car for two hours after they broke down until they decided to leave and search for help. Although both of them knew that they hadn’t the slightest clue of where they were, neither of them knew that they would be stuck walking in circles for a good few hours or what was about to happen to Kasey.
She trekked further on through the dense forest, pushing through bushes and parting branches. At first, there was a dirt path which she could follow assuming it led somewhere, but that eventually seemed to disappear as it trailed off into the green. As soon as the path had left her sight and her lost in the forest, she had started to feel weird, numb almost. Her feet began to feel tight in her boots to which at first, she had thought nothing of. Until now. Her feet started to hurt as if they had swollen up and could no longer be stuck in the tight shoes. Stopping next to a large tree, she bent down to undo her shoes and what was revealed to her sent terror and shock through her mind. Where she expected to see feet, she saw two dark hooves. Kasey didn’t know what to do, partially because she thought what she was seeing wasn’t real, and so just stared at the strange image and as she did so, she started to feel itchy. Taking off her top and trousers, she could see that the itchy sensation was being caused by little white and brown furs that had spread across her body, starting to cover up her skin. No sooner that she had made the strange discovery of what was happening to her skin she felt a stiffness in her hand. Looking to her hands, she found out that they had taken on the same shape as her feet, looking more like hooves now. As she looked cross eyed towards her darkening nose, which lengthened in time with her lower and upper jaw, a muzzle took shape. Hearing a loud ripping sound and blushing slightly, she looked down to her rear and saw a small fluffy tail poking out from her pants. Just as she was acknowledging her current state she picked up the sound of footsteps as her now triangular shaped ears turned to the sound. As she made out the form of her friend walking towards her and calling out her name, she muttered to herself; “Oh deer”.
