This statement, this entire statement and the emotions I know stand behind it encapsulate how I feel almost every goddamned day.

Look at just here, in our own fucking fandom. This was a fandom built by outcasts, social misfits, fetishists and a fair sprinkling of the LGBTQ folk before there even was a term "LGBT". This was meant to be a fandom for people that didn't fit in, a place and setting for us to find each other and enjoy each other for our weirdness, shared weirdness. This was where we could be happy.

Now, group after group of angsty, mean-spirited conservatives and pseudo-nihilistic juveniles pop up, some of them even state on their home page that their goal is to make others miserable. They enjoy harming others and they even applaud each other for it. They don't even hide it, completely shameless at the behaviuor as would-be Saturday morning kids cartoon bad guys.

The admins won't do anything about it. Most other furrs won't even acknowledge it, choosing instead to just leave the site or the fandom entirely after a few angry journals about "all the drama". A few centrist cowards try to say it's everybody being bad, the farcical "both sides" nonsense. We both know where sitting on the sidelines and pointing fingers has gotten us in the past (stand in the middle of the road and cars hit you on both sides. Stand on the side of the road and get nowhhere at all) but unfortunately it seems so many of us are too young or too stupid to learn from that mistake, time after time after time....

And this is just one website in the furry fandom. What I see in the rest of the world is so very much worse. It turns my stomach to see the utter lack of empathy and compassion in these horrible people- especially when just caring, giving a damn is so much easier.

Last I checked, it's what that Jesus guy so many of them claim to follow told them to do, as well... funny, that.

How in the HELL does this NOT have more faves than this? This is some awesome pride month art AND it hits the nostalgia button. I don't get the MLP reboot thing but I watched Care Bears back in the day, like everybody.
