Well that was an unexpected twist for sure, but it makes me respect your storytelling even more.
Now, I'm not normally a fan of winged beasties that also have 4 legs (like, I just can't see how all the musculature would fit into the torso). But I can't help but make an exception for your adorable foxy critters!
