Working in a darkened room during Astronomy class tonight, I decided to put the tree rendering aside for a day and crank out some sketches of the male Grobian beetle for my Animal Anatomy class. Yes, I'm one of those people who goes to one class to work on homework for another.
Anywho, after a few sketches of the layout of the shells and anatomy, I decided to do an action pose. This was only supposed to be a doodle, but before the end of class I found myself rendering it. Needless to say, it quickly became a monster.
The male Grobian are six feet tall on average, so just imagine this thing coming at you at eye-level. Oh, and yes, they can also jump.
I'll be doing a few more renderings of the Grobian before the final is due on the 20th, so you'll see more of this as the deadline comes. Since this is for a project, critique the hell out of it if you so desire!
Cross-posted on my Sketch-A-Day Blog. (http://peterandcompany.livejournal.com) Be sure and keep an eye on it for future WIP's.
