The weapon is a Combination-R15 Combat-Assault weapon (the Jackhammer) which can has a variable setting to either magnetically accelerate whatever piece of metal is sucked into it, or on a different setting, superheat the gasses available (or the stored, compressed gasses) and shoot plasma. Also it has a nice sharp blade on it so it isn't useless in close combat either."
