one of my favorite flowers for it's intense blue. the petals of the flower like some other flowers can be used like a type of litmus paper turning pink or red when acted upon with an acid. i have seen reports of them turning pink for a while in places where acid rain is prevalent but not having seen it myself i am not sure if this is true. usually these guys close up by midday but in the deep shade they remained open longer.
