That is true, but luckily most commanders world wide understand that you need to take care of the soldiers fighting the war in order to win. So hopefully we will never again see a war that is as mindless as WW1.

What does it take to kill few thousand people nowadays? Blow up on a damb or nuclear plant... So, no. There will be scarier wars in the future.

Oh no I'm not saying wars won't be deadlier just that it's different. The speed of war and the effectiveness of weapons will bring higher death tolls rather than blindly sending men into a meat grinder. I was talking about how there is much greater care taken into the preservation of forces nowadays (this also leads to a greater discouragement towards having big all out wars). I sincerely hope that we never have to test those theories though.

Only in civilized countries. I have some examples where soldiers are treated like cannon fodders nowadays.

Brits, germans, americans, the countries that were on the front of WW1, the 'decent superpowers', even russia, Have shanged their ways and dont use the tactics or biological weapons in force. What i mean to aim at is limited and I mean the normal military side of it.

Deadlier, yes, far more deadly, humane, yes, far above what was expected after ww2.

No one has the numbers, proof etc to say 'this military will throw themselves in the gunfire and this one doesnt'

What I think you are trying to tell is different from the initial opinion i gave.
Lets take this route, so you will understand what i tried to make clear.
WW1 military codes, and now the ones used in Irak. From being left to die in an artilarry created crater, to being provided every means of support and safe extraction. One life worth during the 20th century, and one life in the 21st. I hope you understand what i meant with the begin of my comment.

And aslong you arent a russian soldier, or me, there is no safe way to say 'You are so wrong' or 'you are so right'
Only during ww3 or some other war will show how different they act from ww1 and 2 to now

The battle was a major strike against both armies, as many of those who stood by their brothers were shot down like animals, slain like wild beasts. The many who were wounded were doomed as Medics were tasked with navigating across the battlefield to reach their bleeding comrade, which was more dangerous in itself.

This is basically a repeat of the U.S. civil war. New weapons meet old tactics and that is how you have that many mass casualties.
