So this is a... Sort of in between chapter for the SHIFT stories. I'll write these up a bit whenever I want to talk about ongoing plot. Essentially, not something big enough to be it's own story, and not something I'd want to waste other people's SHIFT entry on explaining... So introducing a new character! A scribe by the name of Sybil Delphie! She'll occasionally be providing some commentary on ongoing events as the series progresses.

I feel an urge to add my own observations and speculations, here.
The "sun" incident didn't seem particularly malevolent. There wasn't really anyone behind it, and it didn't appear to be a means to an end; it seemed more like rogue magic getting out of hand.
The "moon" incident did have a villain, but he was working for someone else... someone with a little girl's voice. And her choice of words ("You broke our gift", emphasis mine) implies that she's not alone.
Here's my theory: the true villain is a group of children with exceptional magical powers. Inhabitants of another dimension, perhaps, who view residents of "our" dimension as little more than playthings. One of them set up the "sun" so he/she could watch his/her favorite fairy tales play out for real. Another had a fascination with strange creatures, and wanted to collect them as pets-- and so made a deal with a certain monkey in order to make that happen.
