well this it, this is actually my first model of the 4 i made so far for my new Imperial Knight Household. As when I started the army i was actually nervous of doing Drakiana first for my army i felt i should take a crack at doing a different knight, this would get me in the mindset and also allow me to experiment a touch with the color scheme. it was actually while i was working on Tarkin here is when i first reached out to Relic Entertainment in Vancouver and asked for the support to help in figuring out his colors as unfortunately so little was released and mentioned. They were thankfully more then willing to help me out getting me in touch with a couple of people internally and this project went from there!

Keeping with the Theme of Varlock being known to double up on heavy weapons i though of trying out Tarkin with duel rapid fire battle cannons as shown but i wanted them unique from the regular battle cannons and i remembered that in Dawn of War 3 when you fully upgrade the knight paladin in the game it has a muzzle flash suppressor so i got in touch with some Guard player friends of mine borrowed some bits and woot love the end result.

When i first started trying out this knight with a couple others i actually didn't have a name for Tarkin, and i didn't think that he would be such a good variant weapon layout compared to other weapons and i had been told repeatedly the double thermal or avenger is a vastly better layout, but i enjoyed it and played with him then i got to play against one of my friends where he earned his name.

In that game my friend and i were kept making Star Wars jokes, puns and quotes as he was playing grey knights and joked i had the death star and he was the rebels come to blow it up, the 'death star' being this model here by the end of the game we joked his name was Tarkin and i enjoyed the idea so much i went with it and even freehanded that on his chest scroll. oh i should mention ALL of my knights that are named have said name freehanded on their chest scrolls. i know you can't see it well here but i assure you it is there and if people ask i can take a photo later and show you.
