This month's lower-tier drawing was for an in-progress TF of a girl turning into a moose cow. I'd never drawn a moose before and had do do quite a few studies to decide how I was going to do it. Have you ever looked at a moose closely? They're so alien! Look at their eyes! Their giant nose! Dang! Moose are so rare in this... genre that there isn't even a Species selection for them
Anyhoo. Here's the story:
It had been a great week for Kirsten but, now it was ending.
This summer was her first trip to her family’s camp in five years and it was wonderful. The camp was on a smallish lake in the Adirondaks and, when she was young, was her most favorite place in the world. All of her close family was there for the annual reunion and it was just like old times.
Now, it was mid September and the rest of her family’s vacationing were done. But, she asked her brother if she could get the keys for one last gasp. In between jobs, she needed the time to recharge.
Each morning, she got up at dawn and went for a run around the lake. There were still few houses here and they were mostly empty for the season. There was nothing but the lake, the woods, the birds, the deer, the moose. Every scent, every sight was a bit of heaven for her.
Then, it was back to the camp for a dip in the brisk but, still comfortable water followed by coffee and a hearty breakfast. The days were spent reading and writing, her phone and computer useless without a signal or WiFi. Evenings were spent just sitting on the porch with a good beer, watching the moon reflecting on the still water.
With two more days left, she began to fret. There was such joy and relaxation the past week and she could barely face her life to come. No job, crappy apartment and nobody to come home to, at any rate.
On the last morning she sat sipping her coffee and feeling low.
“I wish” she said to the world in general, the words coming from deep inside, “I really wish I could stay here forever”
She took another sip of her coffee and as she put the cup down on the arm of the adirondak chair, she thought she heard a sound. An odd sound like a lot of tiny bells going “glingle glingle”. She waggled a finger in her ear and then felt a wave of dizziness pass over her for a second.
Then, her nose began to feel quite odd, indeed…
