(Crackle...!) Red Fox Leader to Sparrow... Unidedified object ahead!) Break off Lads! ...Break off! I believe he's one of ours!
Inspired by the very realistic WW II era RAF pilots and aircraft drawn by the multi talented Baron Engle, I thought I'd draw up a little something with a bit of a fantasy, "Harry Potter" twist. Of course I had to put a little thought into the helpful Wizard's flight gear. It gets pretty chilly at 25,000 feet.

Gosh, ya LIVE!!!
Nice one. I will admit, though, I've seen weirder stuff in the sky. Try for someone makin' a fake UFO. Scared the crap outta me when it fell. Looked kinda like a stattelite with christmas lights. Creepy thingy. Never visit CO in UFO season, I tell ya.

You forgot to mention I had tape over the guns on the closer aircraft. The early "Spit" guns were notorious for jamming, so the ground crews would put tape over the gun ports to see if they were working properly or not. It also made the plane just a wee bit more "Slippery."
Actually, I had noticed that in some photos the gun ports are taped over... not just RAF planes either. I wondered why that was. One possibility was to reduce the drag, but I had doubts it would really reduce the coefficient much. I've also heard some pilots might have waxed the forward edge of their wings -- and I've heard too that it was just a gag they told to newbies.
Now this is a nice blast from the past! I'd imagine that as with my little girl, Hogwarts in the RAF would certainly take advantage of their nearly unlimited envelop ceiling. Since brooms like Harry's Nimbus are not air-breathing in any sense, 25,000 ft or Angels 25 is easy lemon squeezy!
Also hmm yes, you do bring up a good point about chill temperatures above 10,000 and, something I really should consider for my Yuki at some point. She loves being "unencumbered" but a good stout coat would reduce mana usage, just to keep warm.
Very nice, Steam, and gosh even 15 years back, Baron was a machine when it comes to traditional media arts!!
