Originaly drawn for my friend Boyce who's a big fan of the Rescue Ranger's inventive Mousie Gal, this image also turned out to be a reflection of my love for building models through the years. There's several little "Homages" to things long past that were indespensable when I was a youngster slapping plastic kit together. Alas! I had to put away the model building tools when I decided to get "Serious" about my comic art. ...But I've never quite lost the desire to work in scale with a sense of mechanical accuracy. I guess this is one reason why my art is so detailed. I'm "Building models" on the page, with my artwork.

Axial = slender, burners usually enclosed.
Centrifugal = Chunky, burners usually separate 'cans'.
The centrifugal turbine works more like an auto supercharger to compress the air to be burned. Indeed, the early c-turbines were based on supercharger technology.

Thanks. I LOVE legos, but the darn kits are soooo expensive. (Currently I've got my eyes on a bulldozer with working treads.) To keep my model building skills sharp, I've been building paper model robots from a book I found at Barnes and Noble. I hope to work my way up to customizing Gundam fighting robot kits into custom "Transformers."
Dunno, I've never heard of it offered commercially, but someone came up with a design.

I'm sure that with a little work you could do one in LDD and order it custom.

Thanks for the links! The big problem is deciding on which to go to first. They used to have a LEGO store in the Ontario Mills Mall, and I used to enjoy shopping there and buying bags of "Parts." some of which I modified and used in my models. (The "Bionicle" line was my favourite as I liked their combined organic and mechanical forms.) I'll keep you posted as to how this works out.
Luvvit.
Reminds me of "Dawn Patrol," an unfinished RR fanfic I did which concerns some R/C modelers flying scale WWII fighters with video cameras aboard encountering the Ranger Wing and wondering who'd be so cruel as to put live animals into a crude flying blimp... ;)

Absolutely beautiful. Having watched these jets as a child, I well remember their sound. Myself though, I would have chosen a P-38. It is much more impressive on flyovers. Those thundering piston engines causing more than the groud to shake. A B-17-G is even more impressive though.
