Kinchaku, being a pouched tree spirit, always likes to keep his pouch filled. Especially with his non-pouched relatives sometimes. So, he'll often stuff them down, take them home and treat them continuosly, ensuring they're well entertained, well looked-after and most importantly, well-fed. Any tree spirit (un)lucky to end up in one of their pouches will often find themselves a resident of it for a few days.

There are also some times where a few days stay can often turn into weeks. Kinchaku seems to have treated Totoro little too well and is now having a bit of trouble hefting him out of the pouch. His passenger has gotten just fat enough, that the pouch opening won't stretch anymore to let him out, effectively trapping him in there. Not a problem for Kinchau, as he always enjoys company. Totoro, on the other hand, may find himself victim to more shows of affection and such, at least, until he can just shimmy out.
