I think we just feel so helpless these days that we try to improve the world in whatever small ways we can. And since we can't seem to do squat about the major problems, too many just end up criticizing other poor schmucks they know nothing about for whatever perceived faults they can find, in an effort to make themselves feel better. It's counterproductive. And sorry for calling you a schmuck.

Simply put, many people simply assert themselves at the expense of others.
