It's pretty much just about shadowing at places there shouldn't be, and some shadows being thicker than the object that casts that shadow (like the shoulder straps - they're really thin, they shadow they cast should be barely noticeable.)
And when there are shadows surrounding everywhere it seems like the character is lit by many really small light sources instead of one or few big ones.
