So Sparks was bugging me that I haven't done anything for pride month, and I was thinking about it... and realised that I should do one, BECAUSE of the reasons I thought I shouldn't.
Some people think that asexual's shouldn't be included in LBGT+ because it's about sexuality and ace is literally the absence of such. There's even been a smear campaign against asexuals to make them stay away from pride events.
But we are queer.
Asexuality has only started to make it's way forward as a recognised identity. So many people going through life wondering what they're missing, what is wrong with them because they don't need or want something that people and media keep telling us we should.
"You haven't met the right person."
"Maybe you're not doing it the right way."
"It's because you were raised wrong."
I'm not wrong. I'm not broken. I just don't feel sexual attraction. And that's okay. I don't need to.
The queer community is for everyone who deviates from the heterosexual, cisgender norm. People trying to exclude asexual's is right there with people who tell bi/pansexuals that their preference is invalidated by whoever they are dating right now.
Keep the queer community safe for all of us.
There's enough problems coming at us from the rest of the world, without turning on each other.
