Katharn was encarcerated as a young boy for accidentally killing his father when he fought back during a particularly violent beating; and due to his father being an Archethalian Nobleman of high stature, he was quickly found guilty of First Degree Murder by kangaroo court. He was sentenced to remain in solitary confinement for the rest of his natural life in a secret prison hidden beneath the royal palace. It was this encarceration that gave him his distinctive 'screw everyone' attitude and his tattoo, which was branded onto his flank. The tattoo (design shown) is an Archethalian word, roughly translated it means 'Blood Traitor'. Until he reached adolescence, he was given books to read and learn from, and he became extremely adept at lore and history, capable of citing entire historical dates from memory. Almost daily torture kept him in check after he reached puberty, leaving him physically scarred and mentally brutallised, his most evident symptom of his horrific past is an occasional lapse into bouts of suicidal depression and anxiety. Left completley alone for roughly a week and a half with only the barest of essentials- toilet, sink and bed- he went legally insane for one and a half hours until a fellow Archethal rescued him from his cell. The only reason he survived the massacre that the rest of his kind faced was the door between him and the outside world.
Bitter to everyone, especially himself, he is the expert in historical lore of the archaeological excavations of the Archethalian homeworld. He often referrs to himself as 'The Pure One', referencing the fact that he is (as of his discovery) the only Archethal not currently under the control of the Polaris.
