anyway, QUEX! 8D he is also known as the wyst dragon. he's from a random plot i came up with completely out of the blue.

he is the last known wyst dragon in existence, and a foolish poacher decides to make the elusive dragon his bitch. so he goes and traps quex, and rips out his vocal cords. see, wyst dragons are unique in that they don't have hearts...they're kept alive by pure magical energy, which takes house in their vocal cords. and they can sing all pretty like. :3

however, what many don't know (also what the poacher DID know) is that their life can be sustained even if their voice is taken away. the wyst dragon will be bound to the owner of the vocal cords, and will be forced to take a weakened form, similar in appearance to that of the thief. the wyst dragon will only be able to communicate with the owner of their voice, through a sort of telepathy, and if it tries to stray too far from the owner then it will die

and if the vocal cords are destroyed somehow, then the wyst dragon will die. the end.

quex is absolutely MISERABLE with the poacher, as one could imagine. however, after a while, the daughter of the elder of a nearby village figures out what happened to quex, and she seeks out the poacher to avenge the poor dragon. she kills the poacher and takes quex's voice for herself, guiding the hapless dragon to safety within the village walls. quex becomes an apprentice of the village shaman, and eventually succeeds him. of course, all the while, he's communicating through the elder's daughter.

eventually, quex learns of a process to reverse the thievery of his voice, and he does it. he regains his true form but retains the ability to shift into "human" form, in which he chooses to remain for most of the time in his village.

...and he may or may not develop a relationship with the elder's daughter. 8D;;
