Before Darl met Kiki, he was a rather dull Silly Creature, who lived in a cheap room and bed. A few days later, his life changed entirely, after which he had no need for his old place. The complete story has not been written yet, but a partial story of Darl's transformation into a Fraggle has been posted as "Where the Magic Is."

Most Fraggles are not curious that way ... they don't even know much about Doozers, much less Humans, even though Doozers live right there with Fraggles, and even provide food. Gobo's uncle Matt was a sort of exception. He wished to explore Outer Space, but he was too much of a ninny to understand any of it. Kiki is also an exception, and does know a bit about Outer Space, thanks to Darl, but eventually found it too intimidating. Darl had tied to straighten out some misconceptions, but it was more trouble than it was worth most of the time, and let things be.
