May Process Piece: Return to the Stars - Naikios Art
As many of you know, April has been a terribly hard month for me. I lost my best friend on the last day of March, and spent the better part of the subsequent month a sobbing, inconsolable mess.
The days leading up to his final one felt so impossible. I spent the entire length of a week just cuddled up with my little furbaby, spoiling him and loving on him until he was practically tired of it (as if).
The morning of our goodbye, I received a message from Naikios with this piece attached.
There is so, so much meaning in this piece. And it's so very dear to my heart. And while I could berate the situation with my tears and agony over the loss, I'd just like to post this piece with some more personal mentions towards it, despite the fact that my two beautiful partners in SQS gave me the month off to grieve.
Grief knows no timeline; it does not have an expiration date, and it hits in the strangest moments.
I know painfully well that he is gone, but 16 years of habits are hard to break.
I still find myself turning to check on him, or almost calling his name just so I can see his head pop up, with his tongue hanging out from sleep.
Momma miss you so damn much, Zippo.
Thank you again for this incredible art, Kris. It means more than words can do justice.
If you have the time and inclination, I urge you all to go watch the process video for this incredible piece: www.youtube.com/watch?v=doqGFN…
It speaks to a lot of the feelings I have, but can't quite verbate.
