Someone Like You (Adelle)
I needed to sing tonight.
I was sinking into a bad depression, and the best way to prevent that, I've found is to sing.
Searched for a song that could be the catharsis for what I was feeling, and oddly, this song was the only one that did.
This is essentially a raw recording. One take, noise removal (the A/C was going), a bit of compression, added a bit of reverb, and nothing else. No breath removal, no pitch correction.
I wanted the pain to come through.
I think it did.
Backing track purchased on http://www.karaoke-version.com. Original song by Adele.

In doing it, I noticed a strong similarity to the Dolly Parton song, "I Will Always Love You" (which I had Dipper sing) with one major difference.
In "I Will Always Love You" the singer goes away, knowing they will alway hold a spot in their heart for their love, but leaves for the sake of the happiness of the other two.
In "Someone Like You" the singer comes back, almost to rub it in the face of their lover that they still love them.
Of the two, "I Will Always Love You" is the more selfless song, I think.

"I Will Always Love You" will last as long as humankind lasts. It really ought to be its own time capsule -- anyone anytime can make it their own even for a moment.
But "Someone Like You" is nittier and grittier, real as opposed to ideal. Songs like that leave a mark, for better or worse, and we (or, maybe just I, in this case) tend to overlook the more selfless tunes as a result...
