"Rawrrrrgh! Rawrawrawrrlglghg!" the new raptor snarled, grinning happily as he looked at himself. His long, whip-like tail wagging left and right to and fro. Then, he sort of realized that not just his body had changed....but his mind had shifted as well.
He still very much contained a human’s consciousness. He could easily recall all the memories of his human self...but they just seemed much less important right now. His wishes and desires had been altered. They were made more primal, more focused on the physiological aspects of his being. Food, sleep, play, friends, and mates; these were the things that were important to him now.
For a few fractions of a second, those same drudging human thoughts pushed in from the back of his mind. Thoughts about what would come after their vacation, and when he would be forced to work a boring job again. However, these thoughts quickly were buried again under the more important thoughts and sensations. A raptor did not think that far ahead. A raptor would keep on living and enjoying his life in the present, or maybe think about what might come tomorrow, not some distant and uncertain future.
What counted now, he thought, were those lovely fleshy human hands rubbing the raptor's snout, caressing his cheeks and rubbing along his jawlines. It felt so good to be petted, so right and perfect. He could smell that it was his friend Matt, and he wanted him to keep petting and rubbing wherever he could.
As a human, scent often did not really play a big role when identifying another person. However, now that he was a predatory raptor, he could easily tell it was him from just a few huffs against those wiggly fingers. Even though he was a raptor: a creature evolved to hunt down anything smaller than them, he felt nothing but admiration, love, and friendship for the human before him. The human part of him felt this emotion, while his raptor form had the ability to communicate this feeling in a unique way. He could barely even recall the person's name, but it did not matter. He knew to who it belonged to, and he was so happy that he kept on petting him.
"Woooow, look at you. Hehehehe, such a handsome raptor!" the person said. The raptor knew he was praised, and it made him feel proud and happy to be praised and pet. He pushed more against those hands, and his eyes remained closed ever since the petting started.enjoying every single fleshy finger caressing his large muzzle.
Suddenly, the fingers withdrew, and the raptor whined in protest before opening his eyes. He grunted in a very surprised manner when he saw just who had been petting him this whole time. The human who had been at his side the whole time had been changing.
"Well, how do I look?" he said, grinning from ear to ear as the dinosaur continued his subtle, surprised expression. After all, a dinosaur had not as much facial expression as a human, but that reptilian muzzle clearly showed that the human had fully succeeded with his plan to surprise Alex.
