'Deep Kiss' Pun or Something

Surprise! Luco is the "dinner date"...what did he expect when meeting a gator like this?
Gift art for my good pal and fellow hyena
. Told you I'd eventually get you back for drawing me all those surprise gifts! Oh, and it's also for being a good friend for 10+ years HOW DARE YOU. Had this drawn last year but obviously the whole wrist injury KIIIIIINNND of slowed that right down.
Luco and The Fab Gator Gal belong to Aku.
Art is mine.

You have no idea how crazy I was going sitting on the sidelines not having anything new to submit, feels good to return...with something I am probably known best for, no less! I can't take all the credit for those features though as it was Aku who designed his gator to have DA LIPS and the thick tongues are kinda a staple of his. I am happy you like this :D
Well well, a new drawing! It's been a long time coming; nobody else likes my stupid long comments as much as you do! There's ground to make up here!
What a way to return to posting on FA! Your hiatus certainly hasn't set you back at all; this drawing still has all the trademark elements which defines your art (all those little touches and details in every single place you can fit them). I love the texture on the alligator, it's a very clever way to replicating that rough scaled skin without having to draw in every single scale. Naturally the sheen on the tongues and lips is spot on, I'm always amazed by how well you suggest texture on lips in particular and how that texture reflects light. Physics on the drool is ace; how I remember commenting about that back in the day... It looks really impressive now. Very natural, how it moves.
I never really like critiquing gifts since, to me at least, it's more about 'the thought that counts' rather than technical prowess, but this really should be a reminder to yourself of your incredible talent that despite your wrist issues over the past couple of years, hasn't waned at all. Big welcome back for you and very well done!

YESSSS THE TRADEMARK TIGER ESSAY!! I was not joking when I said I love getting these...perhaps it's because I'm usually unable to type anything with it turning into an acceptance speech haha. But alas, the wrist doesn't permit that currently!
You know me, I'm a sucker for details even if like 1% of people (like you!) notice them. I like to give things weight and apply some mishmash of physics, and of course different surface textures. It's no secret that shading and adding shine to squishy smooth stuff is a big soft spot of mine, but as for the subtlt rough scale texture that is a different piece of coffee-stained/paint-splatted/burned paper I scan in and work into the picture each time! Little trick of the Derp Trade there for you ;)
I am glad to be gradually making my way back into the art world even if it's just baby steps - making people happy, whether it's a gift or for everyone to enjoy, is what I'm all about. Can't get rid of me that easy!!
