This is a rework of an earlier work that will be part of a third book in the Zelda story line. This takes place long after a war that like all war has left its survivors with memories better forgotten.

Wow. Quite horrid. Rather vivid and strong dream sequence. Powerful little piece. Rather short, but still, powerful. The ending is quite tragic, if I didn't know Zelda, I would say she is a horrible person for slaying so many, but the end would still save her in my eyes. Very well told, I enjoyed this a lot. Good work.
Okay, there were some small things that kina irk me. First, you used the word blood too many times. There are other things you can use to describe blood, without saying it, like "the dark red gushing of a mortal wound" or even, "the crimson life force" metaphorical stuff that make it more poetic and etc. Like, if I took the find and replace feature on MS word, and replaced the word blood with "scat" it would be pretty funny, only because you use it... alot. Not saying it was a major detraction, but in the future, watch stuff like that, it gives you an opportunity to create variety and perhaps add to the story in little ways.
The backstory on this would have been helpful to understand. such as where Zelda is coming from and what she's done. Any person involved in a war might have dreams like this... What about this dream makes it different, and uniquely hers?
You did create a very chilling scene here and your imagery is absolutely brutal, Keep it up!

Thank you for the criticism. The back story is the next book I am working on. Zelda has risen to command of the armies to repel an invasion . in this she has done things to her enemies that haunt her still. This scene is early in the third book. In this book Zelda will find forgiveness, from herself, in how she handles a second attempt to subdue her home.
