Have I seen you before?
"Hey there, my scaly friend. How are you doing? Hmm, you want me to sit down here with you? Sure, why not? Always enjoying my time with a nice dragon like you."
The dragon blushed softly, not saying a word as he scooted over to make some space for the red-haired human.
"He, not that talkative? Don't worry, I am not really either. More of a listener myself, only talking when things really need to be said. Guess you are similar?"
The dragon nodded again, another smile showing on his long muzzle. His left hand played a bit with a metal pendant that hung from his neck.
"Now look at this. I have the same pendant like you. What a coincidence. Where did you get it from? You would not believe the story how I got my hands on this thing. Still can hardly believe it myself at times. "
The human smiled back at the blue scaled dragon again, neither of them really sure what to say right now. They were not really good at small-talk, any topic they could come up with would exhaust itself after just a few words. The human decided against explaining how he got his trinket, not wanting to monologue all the time.
He looked to the dragon's left, seeing an open backpack with some books inside.
"Oh you like reading too? Guess I could call you...a book-wyrm then?"
The blue dragon could not help but cringe at that pun, but the human also saw a little smile briefly washing over his scaly muzzle.
"Sorry, could not help myself. I know that my puns are not that good."
But the dragon placed a big clawed hand on his shoulder, carefully watching out to not cut his friend's shirt with his pointy claws. He squeezed gently and showed him another big smile, this time a bit more toothy and the human replied it with an equally big smile.
The scaly anthro then reached with his other hand to his backpack and pulled it over, offering his friend some of the books. Surprisingly (or not?) they were of genres and about topics the young man enjoyed enormously.
"Erm...yes? You...you want me to read some of them?"
Once again another nod, followed by a few wiggles of long pointy ears.
"Wow...we truly are very similar you know...you see, others say that spending time with friends should always be about doing things together....but I like to not do things together even more....simply being together, knowing the other one is inside the same room....reading, drawing, playing computer...and not necessarily doing these together....simply enjoying the others presence....that I do like a lot....I guess you too?"
This time the dragon let out a soft chuckle with his nod, but again he did not say not a single word. He reached inside the backpack and offerd the human a book, who takes it happily. He did not even bother to read the title. He somehow knew he would enjoy whatever it was about.
The dragon took a book as well and they both just started to read, their thoughts sunken into the plot of the bound paper, their fantasies going wild. But each of their subconscious was also working, noticing each others slow going breath, the bit of warmth they could feel coming from each other, their matching clothing rustling every few minutes when they moved....after a while the human scooted a bit closer until his leg brushed along his draconic friend's leg.
Neither of them looked up from their books, yet both cautiously watched the others reaction to see what he would do. Soon enough the human had his head resting on the taller anthro's shoulder, his eyes still fixed on the letters inside the book, but even though he read line after line, his mind did not really process any of their content.
Minute by minute passed by now, the two men sitting together, their minds immersed in the books and not at the same time.
Suddenly the human's thoughts were interrupted when the dragon petted his lap, nodding towards it with his muzzle. He still had not said a single word, yet his human friend seemed to understand immediately. He scooted over and rolled over onto his back, then scooted again until he was lieing over his friend's lap.
No other thoughts were involved, but the pleasant enjoyment of each others presence while reading a book. Only after a long while the dragon finally said a few single words, often showing the human a funny passage in the book.
They chuckled together at silly actions of the book's protagonists before resuming their reading. And yet all the while the young man had a single thought in the back of his mind.
Have I seen him before?
When I first saw
squarerootofdestiny doing these Sona-human pictures....I just knew I had to get one too. And I could not have asked for something better. Just....just loving it. And I also had pretty much immediately a story in my mind, that only now came into being. Thank you so much for this amazing creation.

I love the story, it plays a wonderful theme of sharing the same ideals, ideas, and mutual love you have for each other. Despite being basically one in the same, your both equally respectful, a balance if you will of mind and body. A rather peaceful and just tranquil read~
