This is from the batch I made for MFM 2009. This is an undecorated leather book like my others, but ready for an artist to take a creative brush or pyrographic tool to its surface!
This one is for sale, come get it at table 35 in the dealers den at MFM today!

I've actually been pondering trying to craft a bow and going hunting this next deer season, but I don't know anyone with a house that I could cure the hide at or with a big freezer where I could store meat :( Most of my hunting expertise has been limited to rabbits, squirrels, and snakes, and they're not well known for their thick hides and antlers :)
Hmm. o_o
You could try a different trap, mebbe. Or at least, bring a big-ass freezer on a wheeled platform nearby and cut the deer into pieces.
You're fortunate though :) I've not got the guts to go hunting (I've thought deeply on it as a form of spiritual topic/reason- but I don't think I'd ever be able to actually end something's life, even if I did use it for sacred purposes [food/etc]). I've tried taxidermy, but had horrible results T^T
(notice to public viewers: I *only* consider hunting an option if it's in a spiritual, reverent context. Hunting for sport is almost blasphemy to me on the sole exception that the hunted creature is used for food/etc after, not as a kill-for-trophy-only).
I'm excited for you! *hugs* :)

Also... after doing a bit of research on Alabama hunting seasons and laws and such, I discovered that not only do we have muzzle-loaded firearm season and bow and arrow season, we also have... spear season.
There's a part of me that would very much love to run with a pack and spear a buck like our cavemen ancestors, but at the same time... I don't think I could successfully ever do that without causing the animal undue pain. I wouldn't even be willing to use a bow unless I practiced a lot and felt comfortable. Our ancestors have been doing this for a million years, and I feel like it's a right of passage of sorts in some instances.
However, I wouldn't even consider doing this unless I had people to line up and get some of the meat and a place to tan the hide. That's the downside of living in an apartment :( But... *shrugs* Even if I did do that, it wouldn't be until October, and I seriously doubt I'd even have time for it. Not to mention I'm not exactly in a spear-chucking state of physical form right now I'll probably just end up scouring the woods after antler-shedding season to collect the fallen antlers in a non-harmful way.

Wow, a spear! O.o That's really unusual/primitive/insert-surprised-thing here.
Yeah, I hear you :)
I've been looking for antlers, but no luck yet. I had deer near my college for a while, except all I found in the woods there were turkeys and *huge* (not kidding, watermelon-sized) heaps of rabbit shit. >_<
Maybe we'll find antlers :D
