here, they have one that they tried marketing to the 7-9 year old crowd (think it was called the firefly - it could only call so many pre-programmed numbers on an 'approved' by parental units list, and 911.) not sure how well that phone did, since kids now want the same or 'cooler' phones at that age than Mom or Dad have... heck, I know some as young as 5 that have a cellphone so that Mom or Dad can keep track of/tabs on them whenever they wish to... o.O

thats fucked up i wasn't allowed a phone until i was 13 and i had to help pay for it...

i know kittywolfie. heck, i didn't get one until my parents needed a better way to know where i was/ to stop a friend from phone stalking the houseline... and that was WELL beyond what kids are getting cellphones at now... o.O not to mention the whole 'congrats, here's a cellphone... btw you get to pay for the bill, go pick out a plan that goes with the phone...'

if i remember, for the firefly, it had to be on a parents contract (as a second -or third- if the case might have been phone) and the minutes used on the firefly counted on the main bill... but, seriously, i wonder why kids that young NEED cellphones anyway... o.O

to call their like... playmates from the swings? idk....

yeah, i know. mostly, for the kids i know... its so that Mom and Dad can check up on them, and know where they are at all times.

or call and check up on whomever is watching over them at the time (babysitter, older sibling etc...)
