And I think I once had one or two of these TYCO transformers. I went through a train-set or two before it became clear how poor their locomotives (and products) were in general.

I seem to recall Mattel owns the tradename today, but no model trains are produced under the banner. And I'm pretty sure Mantua which was the parent company (through buyouts and mergers and buyouts again) ultimately folded in 2001

Nice :) And yes, old HO transformers work pretty well for powering 12V stuff.

If this is a Western Cullen Hayes bell, you can order a rain-shield and mounting cap for it since Western Cullen Hayes is the only railroad signal company that still produces mechanical bells. You can order the parts at their website.

They shouldn't cost too much since a new mechanical bell is about $300-$350. A rain-shield should be about $10 and a mounting cap about $25.
