I'm way too young to have seen Star Blazers when it originally aired. I was aware of the original Japanese series that Star Blazers was adapted from before I was aware of Star Blazers itself. I was honestly surprised to find out how many old Japanese animated series were adapted for international audiences before "anime" in it's Western definition really took off outside of Japan. It's all endlessly fascinating stuff to me.
