that gives you a good hint in where teh problem is: Europe doesn't care sharing each other's towns actual treasure: the cultural heritage of artistic and historical value (common to the whole continent) ..and instead each town only cares about wasting each other's money for their individual greed...do you remember Cinderella's tale? well think about how LAdy Tremaine and her "sisters" acted with her...and that's what europe is doing amongst its own states today!
we should thank you for travelling around teh globe and make everybody realize where the trtue beauty is to be shared amongst towns!

After going to Spain and Greece and experiencing it myself I'm convinced the most financially sound people and communities are often the ones that survived and pulled themselves out of poverty.
Sadly that means some will fail. But governments are spending more money than they have at this point, to where the interest in debt is a large part of our deficit. This is especially true in the US and the EU's poorest. In a decade or so I think there's going to be a massive economic collapse in the US given no effort is made to lower our debt, and I don't think Europe is too far behind.

Depends on how you look at the US but most of America's problems are in states like California where their local governments lack fiscal responsibility and care more about votes. The difference between the EU and the US is that the EU is an economic union over a continent whereas with the US, its a country. Canada is in a lot of debt with their spending and with American illegal immigrants sneaking their way into Ontario, its getting bad in Canada too. I used to live in Canada but now in the US. From the look of things, I think America is about to gradually enter deflation should Trump remove as much economic regulations in America as much as possible. Funny enough with America, its really hard to tell how a whole nation can economically perform because each state in America has their own economy. After all, it is important to note that America is considered a constitutional federal republic and is no way considered a "democracy" since democracy in a literal term means "rule by people" which can lead to "mob rule". Venezuela went full democratic under Chavez to get more votes and support from the people to back socialism there and that's how Venezuela is in the mess they are in today.
I agree with most of what you say but from all I've read and seen the US and most of the West is on its way to an economic and possibly social collapse.
Americans have been polarized before, but never on such a consistent basis that includes basic values (think left and right definitions of equality. Opportunity vs outcome). Identity politics and a mess of a media may be catalysts of this. The fact that the Supreme Court is often being looked to as a tool for Republicans and Democrats to amend the Constitution to their agendas is terrifying as well.
The US Government is some 21 trillion dollars in debt, which exceeds our GDP. Since 2000, spending has never gone down. And at this point we would have to cut significant budget points just to balance the budget. Much of our deficit (about $300b) comes from interest. Our only realistic option is to default, and that would leave the Gov without creditors. It's tough to begin where that would leave the market. It would be chaos.

Also, you're correct about the US being a Nation, but it's peculiar in the sense that a State Government pretty much operates like a country supervised by the Federal government. Sort of reminds me of Spain's Autonomous communities.
The EU has arguably been federalizing itself slowly this past decade. You don't require a passport to travel across member state borders, license plates are standardized, etc. These are all common attributes of US States. From what I've witnessed the EU is no longer a monetary union.

Yes, this is very sad. The €U is good project, the idea is good, but unfortunately the way is really bad sometimes. I love idea of free travelling, without borders, limitations, just freedom what have to exist in modern civilisation. But there is lot of papers for everything, bureaucracy, regulations, limitations. For example direction of €U defines what can be sell like banana and what is not banana any more, have hundreds of pages. That why there is a joke: Why in €U you must have toilet papers with minimally 3 layers? Because €U wants minimally 3 copies of every shit.
