Yep indeed, you can clearly see the mech is not completed yet (or his armor has been removed for some reason), that's because I really wanted to draw inner mechanisms and articulations :3 :3

The front part is quite classic but the rear, indeed, was an original design I thought about for that mech in order to give it a great array of movements.

You mean Briareos ? Not at all. But heavily inspired from another illustration in Appleseed, I think it was the volume with the Artemis episode or the next one, where Hitomi's boyfriend was showing how to operate a new powered suit he was constructing and that was without plate cover yet. This image is forever engraved in my mind.

Oh, they ABSOLUTELY don't have any relation, that's perhaps the part that's the LEAST inspired by Shirow.
But look at the Wilde Sau Garland from Megazone 23, and you'll see it's almost copy-paste !
