Hell. Fucking. Yes.
I've had my issues with Lyle as a character in the past; most of it to deal with some of his more shameless moments and that date he went on with Whitney. But he's been growing on me a lot and he's begun to make better decisions and grow as a character. This moment though... THIS MOMENT solidifies him as a good man to me. He acknowledges his shortcomings and how much it doesn't make sense that Cot seeks him out for comfort instead of his sister. I LOVE that after all the times of people saying things about him; when he finally gets to call someone else out, it isn't for how they treat him; it's in defense of his nephew. I don't know how right I am about this; but I think that because Lyle is self aware of his shortcomings, he is less raw about it when someone calls him out for a legitimately boneheaded move he's made. But when someone is screwing over someone else, at least his family and closest friends I'd imagine, he doesn't hold back.
And as for this... person he calls his sister... I HOPE this is the "wake up" moment for her before she loses any chance she has with her son. If I could quote The Crow for a moment: "Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children." Woman; your son is out there, feeling like he is dying inside more with each passing blow the world throws at him; and I would put money on that you can't even remember the last time you told YOUR GODDAMNED SON that you loved him. Get your ass in gear, get in your car, and go to him right FUCKING NOW!
God I don't know why I'm this angry at a comic character! Props Dutch; anything that gets a reaction this raw out of me has well and truly got my attention in a choke hold.
