So, fascinating series of events that brings us here.
A couple of months back,  TabbieWolf made a post on her livejournal, asking for hybrid ideas. So, I threw out "giraffe and skunk". The result was this:

I went SQUEE! He's tall, he's adorable, he needed a name, a history, and a personality. That turned into this:

Darryl Mayfield. Showed her the profile. She went "SQUEE!", and all was good. Seemed to rather like it.

Needless to say, I liked the picture. That set forth a little spark. Took a month to ferment (in between work, distractions, and general "RAWR!"), before this story was finished. Now, with  TabbieWolf's permission, here it is!

Now, if you've read the profile, Darryl has had terrible luck with relationships. He has, pretty much, given up on the idea and gets by day to day with just friends - including his meddling boss of a magpie, Toby. On this particular day, one of his regular customers shows up for a book order...and promptly asks him out to coffee later...

So, on top of Darryl in a more...described setting, you get Toby (the magpie), and Gwen (the British corgi). Why a corgi? Well, for starters, it's a good contrast to Darryl's tallness.
AND you get a not so blatant stab at Twilight, for those of you who, like me, hate it with the passion of a thousand burning crotches.

That and corgis motherfucking rock! :D
