Terry wiped the sweat off his forehead and stretched his body with a quiet grunt. He entered the locker room and started to undo his shirt. He did a mental check of all things to do.
Clean the carbine... Done.
Leave it with the weaponsmith at the shooting range... Done.
Have a little chat with Francine about tactics...
He did that as well.
He undid the last button and took his shirt off, revealing his muscular torso to no one present in the locker room. He flexed his arms and looked at bracers on his forearms.
Doctor Liu said that they will need to run few tests today.
"Oh, you know" dragon said early in the morning. "Durability, x-ray, speed which you materialize objects with... Aaand few others. You know, standard stuff."
He also realized that he and Francine were meant to meet their new teammates today. To say that he was excited was an overstatement - he stopped counting how many potential teammates came and went through this camp.
He stopped paying any mind as of how many teams have been formed and disbanded during his service. But this time it seemed different. Francine was in pair with him for around a year now. They took part in few minor operations, and command was determined on making them two "bond" - which pretty much meant forcing them to do some activities together. Recalling them now he smirked. Wrestling, going to the cinema, even having few dinners together. He tried bowling with her once. That was a disaster.
But, overall he felt that him and she have got a tiny bit closer together. At least now she didn't treat him like if he was going to rip her guts out at any moment.
He rubbed his left eye and tossed his shirt over his shoulder.
"Hey, Terry! Are you there?"
Francine.
"Yeah, I'm here!" he called out in response.
"Then come out, big guy. Fresh blood just arrived and we're told to say hello."
He nodded and slowly turned towards the door.
