Ну просто это нормально, что друзья противоположного пола редко воспринимаются друг другом как возможные партнёры. Тут немного другая история, поскольку по моему представлению персонажи изначально воспринимали друг друга не совсем по-дружески, но предпочитали закрывать на это глаза и не нарушать устоявшийся образ жизни (а дружба у них довольно специфическая, учитывая, что они большую часть времени живут вместе) до некоторой встрясочки, которая в итоге всё решила.
