Despite her understandable contempt towards humanity, Moro is surprisingly gentle and nurturing towards human children. In her eyes, human children have yet to be corrupted by humanity’s greed and hatred and the wolf goddess found their innate innocence and wide-eyed curiosity endearing. Arguably this is what led to Moro adopting San after her human parents threw her at the wolf goddess’s feet in their desperation to escape her wrath.
Fast-forward fifteen years later, Moro, now so massively obese that she can no longer move under her own power, has become an object of interest for human children now living in the nearby farming community and Moro greatly enjoys their visits. Shamelessly, the obese wolf goddess enjoys their company whenever it’s feeding her, hugging and rubbing her enormously fat belly, or even offering words of comfort and love during rough times. After all, if there’s one thing that Moro has come to enjoy besides further ballooning herself into extreme obesity, it’s being a loving mother.

The one thing I really love about Moro’s character is exactly that juxtaposition. By all accounts, Moro holds some very understandable grievances those mankind and its shows in the movie. And yet, when it comes down to it, she’s ultimately a gentle and nurturing mother at heart. She could have easily eaten San after her parents abandoned her but instead she raises her as her own daughter. And let’s not forget her final act of true love: rescuing San from the demonized Okkoto when she was saving the last of her strength to kill her mortal enemy Lady Eboshi.
Despite the fact that I regularly commission scenes of Moro all fattened up and pregnant, Moro is really of those characters that I sincerely respect and love.
