Originally he was just supposed to be tinkering on a Iron Man-esque glove, but after chatting with some friends there may be more to it than that~
One idea I'm currently very fond of is that one day he just decided that he wanted a robot arm and got it surgically removed in favor of a mechanical replacement. Without telling his parents. XD
