Aoi Matsuri is a festival held every May in Kyoto, recalling the Heian period. The costume is accurate, the colouring is not.

Nice! Its very different. And the folds in the outfit are great. I think the flat colors really work with it because of the theme. For some reason this reminds me of those old Chinese/ Japanest ink paintings =)

a little inaccuracy is acceptable when it involves my favorite shade of orange!

the fine details on this piece are wonderful. it reeally makes the character stand out, as do (perhaps ironically?) the limited use of flat colors.
