Shuraim is wearing an early build of his exosuit here, commissioned by the British Empire.
The drill-like fingers would theoretically enable him to climb walls, though it's never been tested for that purpose before. The fingers also close up and merge into a multibit drill capable of busting anything softer than limestone.
Despite being a mining/construction aide, it has features which Shuraim was forced to incorporate by his sponsors. The bar-like "upper arms" can retract partly into the backpiece, giving him a smaller silhouette while taking cover. The "barrel" forearms are made of thick steel, acting as bullet shields, and is capable of storing items and ammunition. Attached to it are prototype solenoids, intended to warp the path of bullets by electromagnetic fields (for deflecting enemy fire or for doing "trick shots" around corners) but Shuraim has not found a sufficient way to control it without disarming himself in the process.
In the end this design was abandoned, since it needed liquid fuel to operate and few people were able to carry that much metal on their backs. (Shuraim comes from a long line of people who do things like pull locomotives with their butts.) Not to mention that it was bleedin' expensive, mate.
Normally, Shuraim would avoid using this frame in combat (fuel tank and all) but in this case, the Empire has locked down his main workshop and it was the only version he had. During his attempt to take back most of his journals and blueprints, he only managed to wound three guards and put one into a coma. After he was exiled to the United States, the British government confiscated all that remained of the frame and attempted to reverse-engineer it like the rest of Shuraim's creations.
