I should probably have thrown this into Scraps, but I felt like putting it up here because it kind of explains one or two things.
Firstly, if a critter cannot interbreed iRL, it cannot do so in Lacunae. Secondly, yes, there are a bunch of different styles of anthropomorph there - ranging from non-intelligent rabbits to creatures which are essentially humans with animal heads.
There is a reason for all of this, but it won't come out until right near the end of the comic (suffice to say that genetic studies in Lacunae come out with wild and crazy theories constantly, and biology is one of the most poorly understood sciences there as Things Do Not Make Logical Sense).
Sapiens and Sapiens Sapiens critters can interbreed, and do, producing hybrids. However, they don't tend to naturally be that attracted to one another for various reasons, and they do require different living arrangements.

The idea of 'normal' animals in a world with anthromorphic animals seems to blow the mind of some readers. I think I put something in my FAQ about it. Unless you're in a highly contrived and artifical world...artifical by magic or science so powerful as to be magic, there's going to be infra-sentient animal life. Why wouldn't there be?
In SLOP the only kind of animal that's really missing are apes and monkeys. They're pretty much absent. There's a reason for that.
