This is sad.
It reminds me of this really sad flashback scene in Smallville. Lex was forced to relive his worst childhood memory. It was his birthday, and there were presents and decorations and sweets galore. And he was all alone at the head of the table. Crying his eyes out. Eventually his father (who was usually a fucking prick) came into the room, and gave Lex some words of comfort, and a personal present. I know he would become a villain later on, but this was back in the days when he was still trying to be good. And I just broke down when I saw that scene the first time.
