A good 'ol case of "Draw it and they shall come"! Too many times these days I see an artist burning out because they stop drawing for themselves at all, and only draw for others, or the crowd. Don't forget to have fun with your talent!

But it's true. Paintings work a lot better if you focus on what you care about. Painting is about recreating what you see. Trying to paint like photos is pointless because we already have photos. And trying to paint want to see is pointless, because people want to see what they haven't seen before, so you should just paint what's in your mind and you want to see and hope it's what people haven't seen yet in some way. And that doesn't mean you need to be original. Some of the greatest artists became popular by painting what people see very day in a way they never looked at! :D
