There was an electric storm today and, as such, my family and I turned off all electronics till it passed. In the mean time I drew this. The pose has been in my head along with others and I am glad to finally get it on paper. I will hope to finish it soon and ink it, but posted the pencil rough since it looks nice anyhow. ^\/^.
I drew D. Dan doing a high kick and the idea came up while playing Soul Calibur 4. Apparently it is a move from the Amy style of English Rapier in the game that I often use and love. It is also one of my favorites due to the speed, damage and ease of use to do the move. I hope I got the pose right since I was pulling it from memory and such. LOL. ^\/^.
I like how the cape came out since it does not look as stiff as in the other pictures of D. Dan. Also one may note that D. Dan is using the rapier in the left instead of right hand and that it is a different one from what he usually uses. The reasoning for this is that, though he prefers the right hand, D. Dan is a master with both hands. Also, though he has a main weapon (Epic Rapier), he utilizes a variety of rapiers for different reason such as training or ceremonial uses and such as opposed to just fighting. The rapier pictured is used for training for specific duels in arena matches that his university takes part in every now and then. The purpose of the shorter than usual blade and non magic affinity is to make a more balanced use in arena matches since not all can use magic and that it takes place in a small area. D. Dan's main sword that he uses in fighting can take up an incredulously large area and many enemies. Not good for small areas, close quarters or one on one matches. LOL. ^\/^.
