It's been almost ten years that I've had Mercury. I created him back when I was 10 or 9, out of pure accident.
An artist friend of mine wanted to make a collage drawing of all her friends on it, and she asked me for a "ref" -- not having one, she simply asked me for my favorite color.
My answer was green.
Since then, he's come a long way. At some point I made his tailtip yellow, for my third favorite color. A little ways later I opened another sketch page of him by a different friend in basically MS Paint and doodled around with purple, creating his back pattern. He was still feral back then!
Then when I turned 17, I decided to finally make him an anthro. At around that time, I also decided to give him his "mood ring eyes" because well, he and I both are very emotive. It took me a full year past that to develop his sister, Elyza; then his friend Harlow, then finally give him clothes... then started writing his items, his fire powers, his world, his backstory and here we are, today he's the cute lovable puffball he is.
And this is where it started. This is one of the very first drawings EVER MADE of him, back when I was like, 12 or so. The artist was known by Nudlar (or Noodles) on a community called Whirled, and I'm absolutely sad that we've lost touch -- I don't know where she is or what she does, so I sadly can't attribute her here properly.
I also lost the source file itself, but it was a wallpaper. This is the only thing that remains of it, since my old laptop died, taking with it almost nine years of internet history, drawings, documents and my 70 GB soundtrack collection.
But this remains. And I wanted to share it because... ah, I don't know. I don't think any of you will read this far.
The name is an alchemy pun, roughly translating to "Creation of Quicksilver (Mercury)".
