Martel's home in the arctic north is not always the most pleasant of places. Bitter cold, night that stretches on for months on end - its a very silent and often lonely atmosphere. That said, there's still plenty to enjoy, especially tonight when the ribbon-like glow of the aurora borealis flickers just overhead. On nights with a clear sky, these things remind the wolf just how wonderful his chilly home can be.
It's almost enough to distract him from the weight he had put on in that short period of time. Not quite though - he still finds himself grumbling at the large gut, pushing and prodding at it with his hands while periodically turning back to glance at the cave where he gorged on foodstuffs gathered from a shipwreck. The lone sailor who owned the vessel was well on his way home now, leaving the wolf to his isolation once again. It's just him, his new weight, several empty wooden crates, and the heavenly lights above.
This is an...interesting pic. I was intending to give my wolf, Martel, another quick redesign with the new year and, also interested in seeing this done,
s3eker threw some money at the idea. So while this is "technically" a commission piece, these changes to the character are permanent as I was intending to do it in the first place.
In that regard, this is a pseudo sequel pic to this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26636749/
Aside from a bit more weight and wider shoulders, Martel is now sporting a mane across his neck, with which his chest tuft has now become part of. And damn, did I have fun with this pic - especially at the end when I did the aurora in the sky. I'm very happy with the end result!
