"I was blessed with a scope by an old man by the sea who'd never seen a boat in his life.
Through the scope I could see sirens and songs and salted sea sigh'd whispers.
I could see the depths of the black where the embering curdles of ash dripped, where the mucous dries up.
And I could see the shining rainbow of the stars so far away, dotting the sky like pinpricks through a kidnapper's burlap sack. Said to myself "I'm gonna see those sights one day. I'm going to crawl through this scope, I don't even care if I get cut on the glass."
I'll bleed a few drops from my soul just to be on those islands in person.
To be the old man who's been on his own boat for once.
May my eyes allude to nothing but fever-bound stygian moonbeams, and may my heart only ride crimson tide for the baser bonds of bloody-chopped beast. You'll still be listening for more, wouldn't you?"
What are Raksharran?
Rakshasa-- Evil outsiders, however intrinsically native-born to the material plane. They champion pursuits of desire, greed and sin. Shapeshifting creatures of great magical prowess, sometimes known as the dreaded “Man-eaters.” Rakshasa behold materialistic gain and earthly pleasures as being akin to holiness.
In the universe’s infancy, a contingent of primordeal Rakshasa led by the philosphical teachings of a particular Maharaja, who’s name has long been lost to the annals of time, sought to transcend their earthly bodies and achieve enlightenment via surrogating their desires to the “impossible.”
They ventured a grand expedition into a place thought not to exist. Settling their newfound home at the crossroads betwixt a score of intersected planes within the dimension of dreams-- Where reality could be formed like clay, where the rivers flowed time, and the night sky was the dark tapestry itself.
They called this city in the stars “Yofrique.”
Able to flit effortlessly from one plane to another, they learned to find succor in new pursuits. Feeding on the endless, boundless chaotic energy found within the dreams of creatures since time immemorial-- The Rakshasa evolved over time; Becoming less carnal, and more sublime. No longer holding value in the confines of material worlds, they happily revel in the fantasies of others, and sometimes even inflate them.
